Republican Governor and GOP superstar, Ron DeSantis of Florida, has announced he will respond to requests for help at the U.S. southern border from fellow Republicans, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, to send law officers to help with interdiction efforts to capture those entering the country illegally — including those working for cartels trafficking illicit drugs to all corners of the country. This will include law enforcement officers from various sheriffs’ offices around the Sunshine State, as well as members of the Florida Highway Patrol and other state agencies, who will begin deploying immediately.
DeSantis is widely expected to run for president in 2024 either in his own right or as a veep on the Trump ticket. Thanks to his light-touch governing during the coronavirus pandemic he is now the most recognizable Republican governor in the country.

The help will be appreciated. We’re seeing a 20-year high point in illegal entries.
In May, CBP encountered more than 180,000 persons attempting entry along the SW border. This total represents a 1% increase over April.
